Ex Voto (2026)
Folkert de Jong's Ex Voto ships are made of colored candle wax, with votive candles as masts, alluding to the transience of life. During the Warmoes Biennial, De Jong will cast additional objects at Warmoesstraat 67.
Folkert de Jong is known for his life-size sculptures made of Styrofoam and polyurethane foam, industrial materials from the petrochemical industry. With these, he creates grotesque, often disturbing tableaus of power, violence, and disaster, in which art historical references intersect with contemporary political themes.
BONNE is the headquarters of the Warmoes Biennale and its origins. It also houses the store and gallery for the Amsterdam clothing brand BONNE, founded in 2014 by Bonne Reijn and Justus Cohen-Tervaert; its current space opened in 2022.
