Amsterdam Weekend Guide (13-15 March)

Updated 12 March 2026 at 12:56Written by Garvan Ó Deaghaidh
March’s museum-filled agenda continues, accompanied this weekend by a diverse selection of nightlife. Enjoy an early night in Tolhuistuin, a late one in Raum, or an evening of Jazz in Oost.

Editor’s Pick: Jazzfest Amsterdam

This neighbourhood-wide jazz showcase in Oost’s Indische Buurt platforms Amsterdam’s dynamic scene. With one ticket, you can attend nearly 30 concerts on 7 stages throughout the area. Pick up your wristband at StayOkay Timorplein, then stay for the legendary jazz quartet of Han Bennink, Ernst Glerum, Harmen Fraanje and Michael Moore, who performed at the very first edition of the event, before heading out into the neighbourhood. Whether you end up at Elthetokerk, Badhhuis bar or back at Timorplein, trust that your evening will have been well spent.

Catch the current Judy Chicago dubbed Revelations, which showcases her work on gender, power, and social justice, as well as forgotten histories closely linked to her Jewish background.

In his first major exhibition in the Netherlands, the American photographer reconstructs iconic moments from American history and culture through toys and figurines, questioning the construction of these narratives of power, heroism, and identity. From the wild West to baseball and Barbie, his subject matter is as varied and diverse as America itself.

Opening at 19:00 and closing at 00:00, this event offers a vinyl-fueled alternative to traditional clubbing, specialising in disco, soul and reggae. Dance early and sleep on time, and hope that both you and the records are scratch-free in the morning. This is One Fine Mess’s last event before the summer break, so head to Tolhuistuin while you still can.

RESTAURANTS & BARS

Newly Opened: Meili Bakery

Another Asian-inspired bakery, this one serves up treats like tofu cheesecake, which looks a bit like what eating a cloud might be like, red bean mochi buns and pretty cakes made of lychee, rose and strawberries, plus plenty of cream. Get your pineapple coffee – pineapple juice topped with espresso – and a pretty sweet treat, and you’ll understand the hype.
