Animation gallery

In the animation gallery at Eye Film Museum, you'll see the work of five renowned Dutch animators from the 1950s to 2010: Joop Geesink, Monique Renault, Gerrit van Dijk, Maarten Visser, and José Vonk. You can watch animated films and view unique artifacts, such as animation cells, puppets, original drawings, and film clips. The animation gallery is a free extension of the permanent exhibition "What is Film?"

Experience animation up close
The gallery features animated films and objects from Eye's collection: a large number of unique puppets, such as Loekie the Lion, original drawings, film strips, and animation cells.
The exhibition showcases various animation techniques, including puppet animation, filmstrip drawing, mosaic animation, rotoscoping, and cel animation. Creating animation is time-consuming, requiring meticulous precision and patience.
Through the work of five iconic analog animators, you'll experience animation up close and learn more about the creative processes behind making animated films. Watch all the films shown for free at home on Eye Film Player.
