Sempre Animato plays Sibelius and Berlioz
Sempre Animato is a wonderful mix of professional musicians and talented, experienced amateurs, performing at a high level. Initially—until 2019—it performed as a touring orchestra to various European countries, including Sweden, Hungary, France, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Germany. Since the coronavirus pandemic, it has performed annually in Dutch cities under the banner of Winter Concerts.
Since its founding in the early 1990s, the orchestra has been led by conductor Kian Pin Hiu, former first violinist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. His vast experience, extraordinary musicality, and energetic enthusiasm, which he transmits to the orchestra's players, make the concerts exceptional experiences for both the players and the audience. The orchestra holds fond memories of performances of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6, "Pathetique," in 2024 and Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 4 in 2025, which received enthusiastic and surprising audiences. Kian Pin has worked as both a resident and guest conductor with symphony and chamber orchestras in the Netherlands, China, and Hong Kong. He has also accompanied many renowned Dutch and international soloists with Sempre Animato.
